MCA Aneurysm - Case 1


History and Physical

 

  • 69-year-old lady who presented with severe headache, somnolence, and global aphasia (inability to speak or understand language).

CT scan of the patient’s brain show a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

    Cerebral angiography shows a left middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm.




    Surgical Procedure

     

    • She underwent left pterional craniotomy with micro-clipping of this aneurysm utilizing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

    Post-op cerebral angiography shows complete treatment of this aneurysm.

     



    Post-op Course

     

    • She was discharged from the hospital with no complications. Her speech returned to normal. Aside from some memory loss, she returned to normal function and remains free of any aneurysm.
